Ten local projects shortlisted for All Ireland Community and Council Awards

The awards recognise communities and councils working together.

Ten projects across the Northern Sound region have been shortlisted for All Ireland Community and Council Awards.

The awards, presented by the Local Authority Members Association, highlight and recognise communities and councils working together, and seeks to bring national recognition to these projects and developments.

Co Monaghan leads the way with seven nominations, while three projects have been shortlisted in Co Cavan.

The winners will be announced at a Gala Awards Ceremony on Saturday, October 23rd.

A break-down of the finalists can be found below:

Emergency Response Person/Team of the Year: Cavan Civil Defence 

Community-Based Initiative: Carrickmacross Toy Library, Monaghan Libraries Community Delivery and Programming Service, and Cavan Library Covid-19 Book Delivery Service

Best Connected Council: Cavan Day 2020

Best Environmental or Ecological Project or Initiative: Reclaimed Asphalt Pilot Scheme (Monaghan)

Best Tourism Initiative: Patrick Kavanagh Centre Visitor Experience

Best Community Sports Team/Club: Monaghan Sanctuary Runners, and The Peace Link
