A tender for a new community facility in Cavan has been published.
The works would see St Michael's Hall in Cootehill refurbished into a new community hub.
The Fairgreen Community Centre Committee applied to Cavan County Council last year for conservation works to the fabric of the protected structure including walls, windows and doors. The building has been in use since 1905 and according to Cootehill.ie, the estimated cost of delivering the project is in the region of €6.8 million. The refurbishment of the hall is a volunteer led project. Also included in the plans is thermal wrapping, fire stopping and an extension the rear of the building to incorporate a sports hall. Plans were granted with 10 conditions attached and it has now progressed to tender. The tender is seeking contractors to carry out the conservation works and create a community hub consisting of a sports hall, 8 meeting rooms, an auditorium and a stage.
The contract is set to last for 18 months.
Submissions for interested parties close on the 27th of June
