The people of Cavan and Monaghan delivered for Heather Humphreys according to one local senator.
Cavan Fine Gael Senator Joe O'Reilly says the region has always backed Ms Humphreys and it highlights her vote getting abilities in the region.
He said the exit of Jim Gavin from the campaign made the challenge of being elected to be the next President for Heather Humphreys even bigger. Senator O'Reilly says she can be very proud and hold her head high following this presidential election.
He says her energy levels were questioned during the campaign but that was never an issue for her.
