Monaghan has the lowest number of tourism registered bedspaces in the region according to the latest figures from Fáilte Ireland.
Cavan has 2,644 registered tourism bedspaces, while the number in Monaghan, is significantly lower at just 982 bedspaces as of the first quarter of 2025.
The data was released by Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment Peter Burke in response to a parliamentary question put forward by Malcolm Byrne.
Nationally, there are 227,327 registered tourism bedspaces across hotels, hostels, holiday lets and other categories.
In his response, Minister Burke advised Fáilte Ireland said 11,500 new bedspaces are currently under construction, with 86% located in Dublin.
It is also preparing a new Short-Term Letting register, which is due in May 2026, to give a full picture of tourist accommodation and will help shape and inform Ireland's long term accommodation development plans to meet changing consumer demands and trends.
