Funding has been secured to carry out traffic calming measures on a dangerous stretch of the Castleblayney Road in Ballybay.
Monaghan County Council have confirmed that the works will be completed in Q3 of this year.
The issue was highlighted by local councillor, Seamus Coyle who said there was huge concerns being raised by residents along the R183 section.
He said due to a high number of collisions, locals are fearful for their safety and for pedestrians and cyclists.
A recent Traffic and Transportation survey was completed on the route and the results have been forwarded to An Garda Síochána for review.
Cllr Coyle said the safety of residents in the area was a high priority for him and he was very happy to receive the confirmation that the safety works were to take place shortly.
