A Co Monaghan woman is to stand trial later this year accused of stealing over €170,000 from a childcare facility.
48-year-old Theresa Cassidy with an address of Coolkill East, Ballybay, Co Monaghan appeared at a sitting of Monaghan District Court today to face 24 counts of theft. The charges relate to a near four month period in 2023 from Doohamlet Childcare Limited.
Judge Raymond Finnegan was told that the book of evidence has now been served on Ms Cassidy.
The charges allege that between June 30th and November 7th 2023, at a place unknown within the jurisdiction by electronics means from the bank account of Doohamlet Childcare Limited drawn at Bank of Ireland, Main Street, Ballybay, Ms Cassidy stole €170,763.97 from the Monaghan childcare facility.
The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) had consented for Ms Cassidy to be sent forward for trial to the Circuit Criminal Court.
Judge Finnegan remanded Ms Cassidy on continuing bail until the trial in the case will take place Legal aid was also granted to Ms Cassidy and a trial date has been set for October 7th 2025 at Monaghan Circuit Court.
