Tributes paid following death of Castleblayney cyclist

Investigating officers are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

A Castleblayney man who died following a road collision in Co Armagh on Friday has been described as a "true gentleman" who will be "missed by all who were privileged to know him."

Paddy McDonald from Errybane, Castleblayney, died when his bicycle was involved in a collision with a car on the Monaghan Road in the Middletown area of Armagh.

Police received a report at around 2.20pm on Friday of a serious road traffic collision involving a car and a cyclist. Officers attended, alongside emergency services, however the 62-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mr McDonald has been described by those who knew him as a "patient and caring" man who "always had time for anyone he met."

Collision Investigation Unit detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the collision, and would like to hear from witnesses or anyone who may have captured dash-cam or other footage which could assist with their enquiries.
