Tributes paid to former Blayney councillor

Cllr Aidan Campbell proposed a vote of sympathy at today's Monaghan County Council meeting.

Tributes have been paid to former Fine Gael councillor Michael Mc Hugh who has died.

Michael passed away on Sunday peacefully in the care of St. Francis Hospice, Blanchardstown, surrounded by his devoted family.

Cllr Aidan Campbell proposed a vote of sympathy at today's Monaghan County Council meeting on the Castleblayney man's passing.

Cllr Campbell said it was very sad to hear of Micheal's death who was also a publican for many years on Muckno Street in Castleblayney.

Cllr Seamus Coyle formally seconded the proposal of a vote of sympathy for the McHugh family. He said Michael was a very active citizen in the community and he will be greatly missed.

Local Sinn Fein Councillor, Paul Gibbons said the former councillor made great contributions to Castleblayney and beyond.
