Tributes are being paid to the former Chairman of the Cavan County Board, Brendan Keaney who died this week.
In a post to social media, Cavan GAA said Brendan made an outstanding contribution to the GAA in Cavan at club and county level.
His first club was Cavan Gaels and he was a member of the Gaels team that won their first senior championship in 1965.
He served in various positions on the County Board including Development Officer from 1984-1989, Vice-Chairman from 1990-1992 and Chairman from 1993-1999.
Brendan was also heavily involved in the development of Breffni Park and appointed Martin McHugh as Cavan Manager in 1994, leading them to an Ulster title in 1997.
In 2019 he was elected as honorary President of Cavan County Board in recognition of his many years of voluntary service.
His funeral mass takes place today at 2pm in the Cathedral of Saints Patrick and Felim, Cavan, followed by St Brigid's Cemetery, Killygarry
