A truck driver in Co Cavan has been detected using a mobile phone while behind the wheel.
Yesterday morning officers from the Cavan Roads Policing Unit were carrying out a standard checkpoint when they came across a Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) travelling along the N3.
Gardai stopped the vehicle when the noticed the driver committing this dangerous offence. The HGV was pulled over by authorities on the N3 between Cavan and Virginia.

According to local Gardai, "The driver had been holding the mobile phone and texting whilst driving." As a result of this, a Fixed Charge Penalty Notice was issued to the driver.
