Turn out at over 30% in some rural local polling stations

The polling station in Drum has recorded over 32% this afternoon.

Voting continues across the country in the Presidential election this afternoon.

Around lunchtime many constituencies were reporting turnout in the low double digits.

Turnout in rural parts of Monaghan has been brisk throughout the afternoon with some areas reaching the over 25% mark as of 3.30pm this afternoon, with the polling station in Drum recording over 32% as of 3.30pm this afternoon.

However in urban areas like Monaghan Town is at 27% and the South Monaghan town of Carrickmacross is at 28%.

Drum National School 32.2%, Killeevan National School 26%, Urbelshanny National School 23%, Corduff 26%, Drumgossat National School 26%, Corcaghan 24%, Latnamard National School 29.1%, Inniskeen 23%, St Patricks Hall, Monaghan town 27%, St Louis National School, Monaghan 27%, Castleblayney Boys National School 24%, Ballybay 25%, Carrickmacross one booth at 28% and St Tiarnachs's Clones 25%.

In Cavan turn out is picking up still a quiet start this morning, turn out so far as of 3.30pm at Knocktemple National School 20%, St Clare's NS Ballyjamesduff is at 22%, St Anne's NS Bailieboro 21%, while at St Michael's NS Cootehill is at 23.3%.

Redhills is recording a turnout figure of 25% as of 4pm.
