A total of two notifications to convert pubs into residential units were received between 2022 and 2023. The data was released recently by the Department of Housing and relates to applications made under a planning permission exemption for certain forms of vacant commercial premises
Both notifications are in Cavan, while there were none received to convert any pubs in Monaghan into residential units. Both applications in Cavan would result in three new residential units.
The highest number of notifications nationally were recorded in Mayo, with 16 notifications made, for a proposed 40 residential units
