A Monaghan musician along with his band mates claimed one of the top prizes at the prestigious 'BRIT Awards' on over the weekend.
Conor Curley from Tyholland who is a past pupil of St Macartan's College and a former player with Monaghan Harps GAA and Monaghan United FC scooped the 'International Group Of The Year' Award for the second time with his band - Fontaines D.C.
The Tyholland man was unable to attend the award show along with other bandmates. The group accepted the award via video link to The O2 in London as they continue the Australian leg of their world tour.
Back in 2020, the group was nominated for a Grammy in the Best Rock Album category for their second album "A Hero's Death." Frontman Grian Chatten gave a shout out to band Amyl and the Sniffers who they shared the awards category with. He also says they were "buzzing" to win the award twice.
