A Cavan-Monaghan TD has branded long waiting lists for children with additional needs as 'unacceptable'.
Waiting lists for assessments of needs have made headlines in recent weeks, with figures showing 8.900 children are waiting on an assessment.
7,000 of those have been waiting for at least 3 months.
Addressing the Taoiseach, local TD Brendan Smith says that parents are being forced to pay for private therapies due to long waiting lists.
He says this is something they simply can't afford
In response, Taoiseach Micheál Martin highlighted there could be alternative pathways to addressing waiting lists.
