People have been voting in the Presidential election through the morning and early afternoon.
Polls are open until 10pm this evening. Voting is underway across Cavan and Monaghan, and across the country in the presidential election. Turnout this morning was reportedly slow as voters cast their ballots but voting has picked up across the region.
People are choosing either former local TD and former minister Heather Humphreys or Independent canidiate Catherine Connolly to go to the Áras for the next seven years.
As of 1pm Drum National School 20% and Killeevan National School is at 18%. From 12pm St Patricks Hall, Monaghan town 15%, St Louis National School, Monaghan 15.7%, Urbelshanny National School 11%, Castleblayney Boys National School 11%, Corduff 11%, Drumgossat National School 12%, Ballybay 12%, Corcaghan 14%, Latnamard National School 16.5%%, Carrickmacross 15%, Inniskeen 13%, St Tiarnachs's Clones 15%. St Anne's NS Bailieboro 12%, Ballyconnell is sitting at 10%, Bruskey National School is at 10%.
As of 1pm in Munterconnaught, turn out so far at Knocktemple National School is at 13%, while at St Michael's NS Cootehill is at 14.8% as of 1pm also. As of 1.30pm the turn out in Ballyhaise is at 15%.
Also as of 1.30pm a turn out of 16% was reported in Redhills and in Castletara booth 1 had a turn out of 15% and booth 2 had a turn out of 18% at 2:15pm.
A polling officer in Monaghan is stating there that is a very poor youth (Under 35's) turnout so far with the main demographic so far from a visual is the 65+.
