A witness in the case of a 45-year-old woman on trial for the murder of two men in 2014 has told the jury the accused told her that she had shot one of them.
Ruth Lawrence, from Clontarf in Dublin, is accused of murdering to the Eoin O'Connor and Anthony Keegan, before later dumping their bodies on a small island.
It is the prosecution’s case that Ruth Lawrence and her South African boyfriend, Neville Van der Westhuizen, murdered Eoin O’Connor and Anthony Keegan over a significant drug debt owed by Mr Van der Westhuizen to Mr O’Connor.
Prosecution witness, Stacey Symes, today gave evidence of calling to their home on the shores of Lough Sheelin the day after it’s believed the two men were shot dead.
While there, she claimed Ms Lawrence told her that she shot Mr O’Connor, but that it “went wrong,” and that Mr Van der Westhuizen then “took over.”
She further claimed Ms Lawrence showed her two guns in the bedroom.
She claimed Ms Lawrence said the bodies were under a tree, but that they wanted to move them by boat.
The bodies were found several weeks later on a small island on Lough Sheelin.
The prosecution contends that comments made by Ms Lawrence indicate that she was involved in both murders.
She denies the charges.
