The sister of Shane O'Farrell hopes that yesterday's state apology will be a watershed moment for victims of crime.
Yesterday, Justice Minister Jim O'Callaghan apologised to the O'Farrell family for Government failings in relation to bail laws.
Shane was killed by Zigimantas Gridziuska while cycling his bike in Carrickmacross in 2011.
Gridziuska was on bail at the time, but a ruling from Monaghan Circuit Court showed he should have been in jail at the time of Shane's death.
Shane's sister, Hannah, says she hopes a review into bail laws will prevent incidents like this in the future.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show this morning, she said families of victims shouldn't have to campaign for justice as hard as they did.
