Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald believes her party made the right decision not running their own candidate in the Presidential race.
Ms. McDonald visited the region yesterday, meeting prospective voters in the upcoming Presidential Election.
McDonald was pounding the pavements of Kingscourt and Ballybay to drum-up support for Independent Presidential hopeful Catherine Connolly.
#Along with Sinn Féin, Ms Connolly is supported by Labour, the Social Democrats, People Before Profit and the Green Party.
Ms. McDonald took aim at Fine Gael presidential candidate Heather Humphreys while in Cavan. McDonald said there was a choice between a Government candidate and a fully independent candidate.
Speaking to Northern Sound; the Sinn Féin leader described the housing situation here as a full blown crisis with Ms. McDonald adding that the Government and Heather Humphreys have made out that housing is a challenge.
When asked if she should have run in the Presidential Election in hindsight, Ms McDonald had this to say.
