Women own around 10 pc of Cavan / Monaghan farms

Only 11 per cent of farms in Cavan and 10 per cent in County Monaghan are in the name of women. The national average is 13 per cent.

CSO figures show that in 2023, 90 per cent of farms in the Northern Sound region were owned by men. Men own 22,940 holdings in Cavan while women own 577.

In Monaghan, 453 females own their farms while men are the title holders on 3,967.
