Uisce Éireann crews continue to work to repair a burst water main outside Ballyjamesduff this evening.
Repairs are proving to be complex with difficulty gaining access to the burst water main on the Virginia Road leading out of the town.
Available reservoir supplies are being used to supply the town while repairs are ongoing but some Uisce Éireann customers in Ballyjamesduff may be experiencing intermittent supply or reduced pressure this evening as a result of this burst.
Peter Gallagher, Uisce Éireann Water Treatment Operations Manager, assured customers that crews are making every effort to repair the burst as quickly as possible.
“Unfortunately, the repairs are proving more complex than initially thought but crews are making progress.”
Repairs are expected to be completed later tonight. Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the system recharges.
