Minister for rural affairs Dara Calleary turned the sod on the Ballyjamesduff Community and Enterprise Hub yesterday.
Works commenced on the site at the end of 2025 after €7.65 million under his Department's Rural Regeneration and Development Fund was announced at the time by former minister Heather Humphreys.

The project will redevelop and refurbish the former Percy French Hotel and site in the centre of Ballyjamesduff providing a remote working hub and community facility.
Speaking in Ballyjamesduff, Minister Calleary said: It was a great privilege to be here to turn the sod on the landmark project for Ballyjamesduff.
Cllr Trevor Smith says the former hotel will become a state of the art community building.
He said works are well underway now and he expects the premises to be ready by the end of next year.
