Young men aged 18 to 34 are the most likely to underestimate their alcohol levels.
That's one of the findings of a six-month pilot programme by the Road Safety Authority, using breathalyser kiosks.
The study found nearly half of people who failed the breathalyser test thought they were under the legal limit to drive at the time.
