The mother of a young woman found dead in a canal in Monaghan Town over two years ago has called on the Garda Commissioner to meet with and her family.
The body of 23-year-old Kelly Lynch was discovered in the Ulster Canal on March 17th 2024.
There were 93 separate injuries on her body but the tragedy was initially treated as suicide and then as the result of an accidental fall.
Ms Lynch's mother, Julieanne, said the Garda peer review, ordered by the Garda Commissioner, has identified more than 20 recommendations into the investigation, which included a recommendation that a file is to be prepared for the Coroner.
Gardai confirmed to Northern Sound this week that the peer review has now been concluded.
Julieanne believes this development represents an important step towards forward and she says the family wish to meet with Garda Commissioner, Justin Kelly.
She spoke to Ronan Gargan on today's show and she also called to meet with the Justice Minister also in relation to the investigation surrounding her daughters death.
