Monaghan secondary school student, Cameron Mills, got a pleasant surprise when he found out his auntie nominated him in this year's Netwatch Family Carer of the Year Awards.
The 12-year-old from Drum has been a devoted carer for his father who battles a rare and challenging condition called IBMPFD. His father's severe health issues require constant care, and Cameron steps up, helping with various tasks like monitoring oxygen levels, and assisting with mobility.
Despite missing out on typical childhood experiences, Cameron's commitment to his family's care is profound. He picked up the title of Ulster Young Carer of the Year and here Cameron tells Zoe Tunney what caring duties he has taken on with ease:
