Listen Back: 'Children with additional needs in Monaghan continue to be failed'. A local father has raised his concerns over the lack of progress made to source a site for a permanent special needs school in Monaghan.
Indeed, two years on from an initial promise by Government, Paddy McAloon says there is still no site picked.
Furthermore, while he welcomes the temporary special school in Castleblayney; which holds 18 places; he believes there is a need for a permanent site to cater for the numbers going forward.
The local father says over 3 million euro already spent on the temporary Castleblayney site; which he believes is "not fit for purpose."
Speaking to Northern Sound, Paddy says "we're not making any progress" and it seems the Government is happy sticking more prefabs on a temporary site as opposed to sourcing a permanent one.
