Elderly remain without landline phone locally following Storm Eowyn. Cathaoirleach of Cavan County Council, Cllr T.P. O'Reilly is calling for EIR to step up to the mark in the aftermath of Storm Eowyn. Moreover, Cllr O'Reilly said a number of vulnerable people remain without a phone connection, some 8 weeks since the storm. Furthermore, he highlighted that the lack of the landline phone was bad enough, it was also the lack of an active panic button that was causing great concern for older people in the region. The Fine Gael councillor highlighted to Cavan County Council the amount of calls he and his colleagues had received from people complaining about Eir.
He called on the local authority to write to the provider to convene his and the other elected representatives dismay at how they have handled the situation. Cllr O'Reilly described that how Eir has dealt with the aftermath of the storm is absolutely unacceptable.
