Cllr Noel Connell raised the issue at the most recent sitting of the Ballyjamesduff Municipal District.
Moreover, he called on Cavan County Council to ask Inland Fisheries Ireland for an in-depth report; when it's completed on the fish killed that occurred in the middle of July.
Inland Fisheries Ireland believe that the fish kill was a natural occurrence due to high temperatures at that time occurred in the Mountnugent River and Captain's Bay area of Lough Sheelin.
Lough Sheelin Trout Protection Association believes hot weather may have been a factor. Cllr Trevor Smith said that reports of a fish kill in the area damages tourism for people considering coming to the area to fish and lessons need to be learned.
