Local frustration over hot school meals programme. Cavan-Monaghan TD Cathy Bennett has expressed her frustration over the hundreds of primary schools who are going without hot school meals. Despite being previously told that the program would begin in September.
Deputy Bennett says this is "very disappointing" for parents; teachers; and the children themselves.
The local TD says this year "more than any other year" she has been getting calls in relation to school meals and transport. Moreover, adding that "every year" the Government fails to prepare; and as a result children are stuck in limbo.
Deputy Bennett also outlined her concerns in relation to school secretaries and caretakers who have been left with "no other option" but to stand on the picket lines.
