Listen Back: Local man highlights experiences with anorexia and depression. A Co Cavan man is continuing to raise awareness surrounding eating disorders and mental health.
27- year- old Conor Nolan from Blacklion delivers talks in schools across the country; about his experiences surrounding anorexia and depression.
Communities across the country are being encouraged to get involved; light up purple, attend events and share messages of support; as Bodywhys annual Eating Disorders Awareness Week campaign gets underway.
Eating disorders are a serious and complex mental illness. Moreover, in 2025, Bodywhys provided support to over 5,200 individuals through its free and confidential services. Furthermore, this service includes a helpline, email support service, chat and video-based support groups.
Additionally, numerous locations around the country will show their support by lighting buildings in purple throughout the week; including Cavan Courthouse from tonight. Conor says his obsession with fitness from the age of 11 led to him developing the eating disorder anorexia.
Indeed, Conor now travels the country to deliver talks to schools. He joined Ronan Gargan earlier to discuss awareness surrounding eating disorders.
