Cavan-Monaghan TD Niamh Smyth has praised plans for the proposed multi-million euro Regional Sports Campus in Cavan.
Deputy Smyth recently visited Kingspan Breffni Park alongside Minister for Sport, Charlie McConalogue.
The local TD described the new sports campus as a transformative project that has the potential to become a hub for sport, recreation, health and community activity for generations to come.
The complex will be suitable for a range of sport, physical activity, community events and programmes.
The Cavan Regional Sports Campus is a major multi-sport development.
Backed by a €15 million PEACEPLUS funding package announced in late 2025, the facility will feature an eight-lane athletics track, a covered arena with an indoor playing pitch, seven outdoor pitches, cricket nets, and fitness studios.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Deputy Smuth believes plans for the development of Kingspan Breffni go far beyond football, adding that it has the potential to become the next Croke Park of this region.
The local Fianna Fail TD also complimented the thought process that went into the design of the campus.
