That's according to news figures released by the CSO in relation to distance from healthcare settings.
In Monaghan, the median distance to the nearest health service for households by administrative county was 34.7 kilometres from HSE General Hospital, in Cavan it was 20.7 kilometres.
The median distance from and emergency department in Monaghan was 44.2 kilometres, in Cavan it was 20.7 kilometres.
In terms of an injury unit Monaghan residents averaged 17.6 kilometres away, while in Cavan it's a median distance of 43.8 kilometres.
Monaghan residents were found to have the furthest distance to travel to a maternity department, with a median distance of 44.4 kilometres, in Cavan the distance was again a median of 20.7 kilometres from a maternity department.
Monaghan residents were found to be median distance of 8.5 kilometres from a Primary Care Centre and Cavan residents were a median distance of 7.6 kilometres from a Primary Care Centre.
