Listen Back: Local students show their support for Down Syndrome Ireland

A Co Monaghan student had her sock designs displayed nationwide; through an art competition; in aid of Down Syndrome Ireland. Down Syndrome Ireland held a competition recently for children to design their odd sock for 'odd sock day'.  Pupils from Corracrin Primary School were only "too happy" to get involved. Despite competition from all over the country; it was Corracrin's very own Rachel Gillanders from Emyvale who won first place! Subsequently, they have officially printed her design on socks. Indeed, these socks are now available to buy from the Down Syndrome Ireland Facebook page.  Furthermore, the sale of the socks will raise much needed funds for Down Syndrome Ireland.

Principal Richard Baxter, and the staff of Corracrin National School, are delighted to take part in this competition. Especially as they have a fantastic student, Annie McKenna, who has Down Syndrome. Moreover, Jodie Curran experienced first-hand how the school community loves to support and encourage her uniqueness. Jodie Curran was lucky enough to get the chance to head to Corracrin National School yesterday to meet with Annie and her best friend Rachel. Rachel won the national odd socks competition in support of Down Syndrome Ireland:
