The North South Interconnector is to proceed as planned as an overhead line across Cavan, Monaghan, Meath, Armagh and Tyrone. Eirgrid says the Interconnector is critical for the security of electricity supply across the island of Ireland but landowners, communities and stakeholders locally are opposed to the development.
Senator Robbie Gallagher raised the issue in the Seanad this week and has asked Minister Eamon Ryan to come before the lower house of the Oireachtas so, that opposition can be highlighted to him.
Speaking to the Wider View, Senator Gallagher began by affirming his support of a campaign to get the interconnector undergrounded.
