While batteries are here to stay in terms of renewable energy; there is currently no regulation of the industry by the Irish Government. Moreover, there is no safety framework in place for facilities like those planned for Shankhill Lower and Pottle.
Eleanor Davis from Shankhill Lower, tells Zoe Tunney residents are not opposed to battery storage; as long as the Government listens to their concerns. Moreover, the Government needs to take a "multi-agency" approach for developing adequate safety; and emergency plans.
