Relaxation of planning laws around log cabins welcomed locally. A local TD has welcomed plans surrounding the relaxation of planning laws around log cabins and modular homes.
A public consultation on Government plans to make log cabins in back gardens exempt from planning permission is now underway.
The proposals would allow people to build cabins or modular homes; up to 45 square metres in size; in their back gardens. However, as long as at least 25 square metres of garden is retained.
Local TD David Maxwell welcomes the plans. Adding, this isn't about solving the housing crisis. It is about helping people who want to put a modular home or log cabin in their back garden.
The Fine Gael TD told Northern Sound this is about helping people in rural Ireland and now people wanting to put a building up to 45 square metres in size in their back garden will not need to seek planning permission.
