Scammers are preying on the grieving and vulnerable at an alarming rate.
While it's nothing new for fraudsters to pick the death notice of a recently deceased person and re-post it to social media advising people they can pay to view the funeral service online, this time the con artists have preyed on people mourning the death of a local child in tragic circumstances.
Monaghan County Councillor David Maxwell regularly alerts followers of his social media account of the latest scams. Cllr Maxwell is a vociferous critic of this type of deception. This time he has spoken out about it to Zoe Tunney.
