The Virginia Brooch has returned to Co Cavan and is now on display at the Cavan County Museum.
It has been described as one of County Cavan's most important historical treasures dating back to around 900 AD.
According to Róisín Nic Cnáimhín, who is the lead curator with the National Museum of Ireland the broach was discovered near Virginia in the 1850s.

The beautifully crafted silver brooch is over 1,000 years old and is regarded as one of the finest examples of early medieval Irish metalwork.
Róisín says it’s wonderful to have it returned to Cavan to allow as many locals enjoy the unique broach and to access it and experience it.
