Eleven new Gardai have been appointed across Cavan and Monaghan.
Of the 11 Gardaí, 1 has been allocated to Carrickmacross, 7 to Cavan and 3 to Monaghan.
The allocation follows today's attestation of 206 probationer Gardaí at the Garda College in Templemore.
Welcoming the news, Cavan-Monaghan TD Brendan Smith said the additional personnel will strengthen frontline policing and help keep local communities safe:
Speaking on the allocation, Senator Gallagher said this is the largest Garda attestation since 2019 and, with more than 200 recruits due to enter the Garda College next week, it demonstrates that a strong pipeline is being built to increase Garda numbers in communities across the country:
