15 childcare services exit Core funding across region

There have been 15 services that have "exited" Core funding across the Northern Sound Region since 2022/2023.

That's according to the Minister for Children, Disability and Equality, Norma Foley.

Core is a grant for early learning, childcare and school-age childcare providers towards their operating costs.

The Minister was asked in a parliamentary question, the number of services that have exited Core funding.

Since the 2022/2023 year, 10 services have left the funding in Co. Cavan, while 5 have left in Co. Monaghan.

Nationally over the same period, 648 services have exited nationally.

Minister Foley added that many services have left and later re-joined the scheme.
