Over 150 people have been arrested for sexual assault in the Cavan-Monaghan Garda division over over the last 10 years.
That’s according to Aontú’s Cllr Sarah O’Reilly who believes more needs to be done to ensure the system encourages survivors to come forward.
She added the perpetrators of these "shocking crimes" must be brought to justice.

Cllr O’Reilly highlighted the need for people in rural areas to remain vigilant and "look out for one another".
She said there are people living in fear and experiencing loneliness on a daily basis across the region
