16 local schools benefit from STEM grants

Local Fianna Fáil TD Brendan Smith, has welcomed €138,479 for 9 Cavan and 7 Monaghan schools in STEM grants.

The funding has been announced by Minister for Education, Norma Foley, as part of a trebling of the budget for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) grants to €4.7m. The announcement marks a significant stride towards advancing STEM education in schools in Cavan-Monaghan.

Deputy Brendan Smith said: "This new funding in STEM grants will make a big difference to students at the selected schools in Cavan and Monaghan. The local deputy said that he sincerely hopes that those schools who made detailed applications which were unsuccessful this time will be given due consideration when further funding becomes available for this important initiative.
