The North East region saw a fall in the number of people recorded as homeless in March, according to the latest figures released by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage.
222 adults accessed local authority managed emergency accommodation in the North East region, which comprises Louth, Monaghan and Cavan.
It is down from 213 in February.
18 people were recorded in total in Monaghan and Cavan, in February that figure was 22. Oonagh Doyle from Dundalk Simon Community, says the drop locally is welcomed but more needs to be done. She is calling on the government to recognise homelessness as a national crisis and to respond to it as the emergency it is.
