2,300 local homes without smoke alarms

There were over 2,300 homes across Cavan and Monaghan with no smoke alarms as of April 2022.

That's according to Census 2022 which included a new household question on the number of working smoke alarms within a home.

Cavan had 1,316 homes with no smoke alarm while Monaghan had 989 homes with no working smoke alarm. Nationally, according to the CSO almost 72,000 homes had no smoke alarms installed.
