3,600 local homes to benefit from high-speed broadband

Under the National Broadband Plan, County Cavan will see an investment of €65M and County Monaghan will see €60M in the new high speed fibre network.

High-speed broadband is on its way for a further 3,600 homes, farms and businesses across Cavan and Monaghan.

National Broadband Ireland says 3,600 homes, businesses and farms in Cavan with a further 1,500 premises in Monaghan will be able to avail of a high-speed connection.

The company rolling out the new high speed fibre broadband network under the Government's National Broadband Plan has announced that construction has commenced to deliver high-speed broadband to over 3,600 premises in the Cootehill deployment area in County Cavan and Monaghan. In Cavan, there are approximately 17,000 premises in the Intervention Area whilst there are approximately 16,000 premises in the Intervention Area in Monaghan.

Under the National Broadband Plan, County Cavan will see an investment of €65M and County Monaghan will see €60M in the new high speed fibre network. This will enable e-learning, remote monitoring of livestock or equipment, e-health initiatives, better energy efficiency in the home, and facilitate increased levels of remote working.

Works have already been completed in other parts of Cavan and Monaghan and there are 3,620 premises in Cavan and 5,742 premises in Monaghan that are available to order or pre-order high-speed, reliable broadband.
