A months worth of rain fell in just one day in some areas, as parts of the east and the north were battered with heavy showers.
An orange status warning was in place in Wicklow, Dublin, Louth and Meath this morning, following persistent downpours overnight.
Armagh, Antrim and Down remain under a yellow warning until 6 O'clock this evening. The RSA is advising drivers to stay vigilant and check conditions before setting out on a journey, as the wet conditions continue and flooding remains in parts. Carlow Weather's Alan O’Reilly says some weather stations around the country measured over 50 millimetres of rain over the past 24 hours.
