The Agriculture Minister says employees at local turkey factories should be "calling out" any breaches of Covid-19 guidelines.

Meat plants were one of the areas highlighted as contributing to the second wave of the virus in Ireland, with Sinn Fein's Matt Carthy asking if measures are being put in place to ensure the same doesn't happen in similar settings now.

The Monaghan TD said such poultry farms are prominent in Cavan and Monaghan and are mostly made up of new staff, part-time workers and migrant labour.

Charlie McConalogue says his department has a limited role in public health measures in turkey factories, but everyone can contribute to make working conditions better.
