An all Ireland folk conference is being held in Monaghan town this week. The 'Your Roots Are Showing' Conference is Ireland's newest and largest annual folk, roots, and traditional music conference.
It provides opportunities for showcasing, professional development, and networking for artists and music industry professionals in Ireland and within the international Folk community. It's the first time the event has been held in Ireland and owner, and creative director of the Conference, Brendan McCreanor says the reaction has been "incredible".
He added that the event revitalises and rejuvenates people working in the industry. "For the past few days we have had about 60 speakers and 61 bands from all over the world. During the day we had different talks on different topics and then at night we had the showcases," Mr McCreanor said.
