Ten swimming pools across the Northern Sound region have received almost €25,000 from the Covid-19 Swimming pool grants scheme.
The support is administered by Sports Ireland through the Active Ireland group and is designed to help swimming pool and leisure centres affected by the Covid-19 shutdowns.
Nationally €700,000 has been provided for the sector as the final phase of the grant, with swimming pools receiving their first payment in 2020.
The grant is aimed to support publicly accessible swimming pools respond to the challenge associated with maintaining pools and the effort to reopen and remain open, within COVID-19 safety protocols in place.
Cavan swimming pools and leisure centres took home the largest payout in the region with five facilities across the county receiving a combined total of €12,281.
That was followed closely by Monaghan which saw five of its swimming facilities receive a share of €12,022.
