It's the latest issue with the vaccine programme locally.

The HSE has been called on to explain by some people in Cavan are being given vaccine appointments 50km from their home.

A number of people in the Ballymachugh and Ballyjamesduff areas have been given appointments in Navan in Co Meath.

That's despite the vaccine centre in Cavan town being less than half that distance.

The HSE had previously said people would be given appointments in their closest centre but it has not responded to a query on this issue from Northern Sound News.

It comes as earlier this week Carrickmacross woman Geraldine McNally spoke out as she has been waiting over a month for an appointment after registering for a vaccine.

The HSE again has not responded to a request for comment on that case.
