Mr McGenity added that the 'unintended consequences' of the Protocol impacted farmers and food producers the most.

This week both the EU and the UK made progress in their talks on the Northern Ireland Protocol.

As a result, it is likely that the EU will accept the principle that GB goods shipped to Northern Ireland and staying there, should be treated differently to goods moving south into the single market.

Speaking to Shannonside Northern Sound, Damien McGenity from Border Communities Against Brexit, said a key element of the negotiations is the UK's agreement to share crucial data with the EU.

He pointed out that the establishment of Border Control Posts together with data sharing are necessary to build trust across communities in Northern Ireland.

Mr McGenity added that the 'unintended consequences' of the Protocol impacted farmers and food producers the most.
